The Gate - Punchbowl Falls FA 011 Prior to 2009 a tree had fallen which had blocked the unobstructed view of the waterfall. In Spring of 2009, high water from the spring snow-melt washed the tree downstream. Because of the downed tree, this image is unique. When I shot this waterfall, I viewed this fallen tree as Mother Nature's way of protecting the pristine waterfall from the intrusion of man. Thus symbolically speaking, the tree represented to me a gate which says, "do not enter."
